Things to do More of This Summer

Go outside

Grab your favourite pair of shades, put on your favourite pair of shorts, got outside and absorb that vitamin D

Watch the sunset

Summer sunsets are the best: Don’t take them for granted. Give your self that 30 minutes to just sit outside quietly and absorb your surroundings

Read more books

Put your phone down and pick up a book instead!! You probably have a summer reading list from school anyway hahah (read even if you don’t)

Try new styles

Set your own trends and wear whatever the heck you want! It’s time to experiment and explore to find your personal style

Walk around your house/room naked and feel the freedom

It feels amazing to not have to carry the weight of clothes. Enough said

Eat less animal products

Better for your health, and the planet

Take a long walk, go for a run, do something active!

Save gas and get a firm ass! In the spring and summer (unless it’s unbearably humid) I try to avoid public transport and go by bike instead.

Go makeup-less

Let your skin breathe and embrace your natural face

If you’re anything like me, you have a lot of sleep to catch up on from all of the sleepless school nights – sleep in!

Write down your thoughts, opinions, experiences and what you’re grateful for, it’s a great way to reflect and clear your mind

Be inspired

Be more observant of your surroundings, people-watch, and make a folder of everything that catches your eye on tumblr

Investing in a skateboard was one of the best things I ever did, though I pretty much only do it in summer, it’s the funnest thing ever, looks awesome, and is a perfect way to get from place to place

Wander around past midnight, go somewhere you’ve never been before, get lost and find your self in the process hehe

Make vlogs – even if you’re not going to share them, they’re going to be so funny to re- watch and are going to be a complete play back of your memories. If you don’t want to do that, just take lots and lots of pictures

Spend more $$$ on experiences than on material things

Consider your purchases before you splurge. Only spend on things that spark happiness and on things that will still matter in a year. Think about it in the long term… festival tickets or shoes? Which one will have more of a lasting effect?

Step out of your comfort zone

Socially awkward? Me too. Let’s try to fix that this summer, go talk to people! go to parties! don’t be scared to mess up! Before doing something, think; “am I going to regret not doing this?” if the answer is yes, DO IT.

Look after your skin

Just be nice to it – take your makeup off at night, don’t binge on junk food, pamper it occasionally with a face mask, and lather the shiz out of it with coconut oil

Spend time with your family

Make time for them too

Random acts of kindness

I think I’m going to write a separate post on this, but it just feels so good to do something nice for another person. Treat others how you would want to be treated.

That’s all I can think of for now…

Glitter and Summer Countdowns

Exactly 4 days left until the long awaited summer break. We’re at that phase where grades have been submitted, we’re done with finals, and are either watching movies or playing games in class… or talking about IB next year and getting assigned summer homework (but lets focus on the positive…). I can literally feel, taste and smell summer break and am so excited.

My last weekend of Sophomore year was spent naked in bathtubs covered in paint and glitter. Not as crazy at it sounds I swear hahah. Joela is working on one of her projects for next year and used me as one of the subjects of her art. Despite the mess, it was actually so much fun and turned out pretty cool. Pictures below.

I Want To Travel

I want to travel

But I don’t think anyone understands

I want to wander at four in the morning, through the streets of Moscow

I want to wake up on a roof,

In the middle of New Delhi

Stand on a balcony and sip tea, without clothes, on top of Sweden

Roam through a bazaar in Istanbul

Cry because I am free, beneath Germany

Kiss an elder on her cheeks in Czech

Smoke a cigarette while laying in the tub in the Alps

Read a book in a small cafe around Portugal

Swim through the reefs of New Zealand

Wash my hair in a hostel of England

Dance with the laughing people of Africa

Feed sushi to another in Tokyo

I want to make love to you,

Deep within Spain

I want to travel

Confidence: Style

Inspiration, Uncategorized

Would you consider your self a confident person? To me, that’s a very difficult question, and would have a very mixed yes-no answer. Some days, I am the exact opposite, some days, I am, and most days, I’m somewhere in the middle. I know I’m not alone in this and so I’m writing this post to my self as well as one to every one out there facing the same things. Enjoy, and remember, confidence is key.

Words to live by…

1. People will promise to never leave you. They will. It’s okay to be sad when they do.

2. It is always okay to cry. Always. Find a bathroom, bury your face in your pillow, and let it out. Cry in the shower. Cry in the car. Cry when you need to.

3. Boys will flirt with you for a while and then ignore you. Then, they will flirt with you some more. It will be confusing. You have every right to stop putting up with it.

4. Pay attention to what people say when they’re angry. When you make up and they tell you they didn’t mean any of it, know that they did. Also know that they wish they didn’t. Forgive them.

5. Never pretend to be someone you’re not. If you don’t like tea and classic novels, don’t act like you do to impress people. If you don’t want to wear leather jackets and combat boots, don’t wear them to please someone else.

6. People will be mean to you; they will spread lies, call you names, and talk about you behind your back. Eventually you will realise that it is petty and stupid and not worth your time. You’ll be right. Move on with your life.

7. Your friends will not always be there for you. When you really need to talk, they will sometimes not want to hear it. That’s okay. Take a deep breath and remember all the times you felt the same way. Exhale.

8. You will wait and wait and wait for relationships. The anticipation will kill you. You will keep trying to find the right person in everyone you meet. Relax. There’s no rush. The best things happen unplanned.

9. Tell people how you feel. It will be terrifying in some cases and gratifying in others. It will create relationships and ruin them. But speak your mind, even if your voice shakes, because your thoughts may never otherwise be heard.

10. Sleep.

11. Talk to people. Talk to your sister about the guy she likes. Talk to your mom about her childhood. Talk to your dad about his favorite books. Talk to your grandparents about their families. Talk to your friends, talk to your pets, talk to the cute waitress at the restaurant.

12. Always bring a sweater. Even if you think it won’t be cold.

13. Try new things. Eat new food, try a new kind of juice, switch up the way you dress. You never know what you might end up loving. Life can get boring.

14. Take care of yourself. Wash your hair with that good smelling soap you love. Eat fruits and vegetables. Drink lots of water. Go for long walks in pretty parks.

15. School is important. Try your hardest. If you don’t get something, ask for help. Do your homework. Show your teachers that you’re willing to work hard, and when it comes time to apply to colleges, you’ll be glad you did.

16. There will always be someone prettier, smarter, funnier, or more popular than you. The beauty of it is that it isn’t a competition.

Fall and Winter Music

Music is a huge part of my life, I’m ALWAYS listening to it, on the way to school, in school while researching, at home while I’m doing homework, while cleaning, while attempting to cook, while showering, while dancing around in my underwear and so on hahah. I literally have playlists to listen to depending on my mood and I love them. Here they are.

Fall Inspiration

September, October and November are the best… Clean crisp air, leaves, blankets, halloween, tea, fuzzy socks and so much more, you get the drift. Kinda cringing that I just listed the most basic and stereotypical aspects of fall, but don’t deny it, they’re all true and amazing. Here’s what I’ve loved so far and what’s been inspiring me this season.

Long Weekends and Productivity

Some days you wake up and know that you’re not gonna get a single shit done, and some days you wake up feeling like you can turn water into wine… feel me? hahaha today was one of those days for me. I’m the type of person to leave things to the last minute which isn’t very admirable but hey, if you get it done and do it well does it even matter when you did it? Here’s how I spent my day actually being productive.

Operation Get Shit Together

In the past like two weeks I’ve cried, alone in my room, while doing the dishes, at lunch in school, and in public extra loud and ugly while walking home from school. Sometimes you just feel like the universe is testing you and you feel like nothing’s going right for no reason and you keep questioning what you did to deserve all of this bullshit, then you throw yourself a pity party, don’t smile enough, have a pissy attitude and so much more. Maybe that’s just me lol… But we’ve all been through not-so-nice-things. And it frickin’ sucks but there comes a time where you have to put that all behind you and move on. Here’s my plan…
