Another spring break, another trip back to my mom’s house here in Papua New Guinea. I’m currently in the capital, Port Moresby and got back from 4 days at Doini Island in Millen Bay Provence yesterday morning. Not even kidding when I say that it was p a r a d i s e. Here’s a summary of my trip in journal entries and pictures. Enjoy!

We just got to the beach (Doini Island) via helicopter. It was mesmerizing. I’m gonna go strip then jump straight into the ocean. We’ve got the whole, crystal blue-watered island all to ourselves… there isn’t a single other guest here. I am so at peace and happy.
“Shit. What happened to starting early?” Was the start of the productive part of our day on this particular sunny Tuesday morning. By this point (around 11 am) Jo and I had rolled around in our makeshift beds in the TV room, made and eaten pancakes with raspberries and finished the movie we (me mostly) dozed off while watching the night before.
As IB art students, creative photoshoots are a huge part of our friendship, she models for me, I model for her.. That’s how it works hahaha (see more here). Anyway, on this day, Jo wanted to take some polaroids and also take some pictures of me with sakura flowers she painted on my face. Even though we kinda rushed through this whole thing, I’m actually so in love with how the pictures turned out. She’s seriously so talented.
Two whole days on the beach and by the pool were exactly what I needed. I went back to Malaysia for fall break this year, as always, it was so good to be home and see all my family and especially my cousins who are all growing up so fast *wipes away tear*.
This time we decided to take a little three day trip to Penang (which is also where my grandma lives) and spent two nights at the Lone Pine Hotel. It was SUCH a nice place to be and made me realize how much I actually miss Malaysia, sometimes I really wish I lived there haha.
Our last and my favorite stop on this trip was the town of Monterosso in Cinque Terre, Italy. The beach-town vibe of this place, the houses in the hills and the clear blue ocean water was just what I needed to finish my summer break and I had such an amazing time.
We drove through Pisa on our way from Florence to Monterosso, and decided to stop at the leaning tower, pretty much just to take a picture and to see it lol (offered to help like 5 people attempting to make the tower look like it was leaning on them). It wasn’t that great to be honest… glad I saw it though haha.
