The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes this morning was the clear blue sky. I was instantly in a better mood… that and of course the fact that I’d be spending my weekend doing something other than school work. On this day, Jo and I decided to explore Fukuoka a little more and go to places we hadn’t been before.
What we wear on typical, chill, winter days out in the city. Loved how cute and retro these pictures turned out hehe
Outfit details below, Enjoy! 🙂
In my opinion, January and February are the longest months evverrrrr… Midterms, winter and that time time of the semester where no one has any motivation. It just generally feels like there isn’t much to look forward to. At least February is my birthday month 😉
Anyway, negativity aside, here’s my inspiration for these upcoming months plus some of my favorites/themes-of-the-month written down.
Happy New Year!
I think it’s safe to say that 2016 was my year. Looking back, I don’t have any regrets and I’m heading out with a smile. Let’s hope 2017 is even better. Here’s a recap of my year.
Woke up, made my self a smoothie, showered and got ready to Ed Sheeran. Literally could not wait to get out of the house and meet up with my best friend after 4 days of being trapped at home. A few minutes past 10, Jo came over to drop her things for the night and we left the house. Camera’s at hand, arm in arm, we made our way downtown. With the intention of Christmas shopping we spent (literally) 9 hours in the city wandering around, thrifting, eating, sitting in the park and visiting a local shrine.
“Shit. What happened to starting early?” Was the start of the productive part of our day on this particular sunny Tuesday morning. By this point (around 11 am) Jo and I had rolled around in our makeshift beds in the TV room, made and eaten pancakes with raspberries and finished the movie we (me mostly) dozed off while watching the night before.
As IB art students, creative photoshoots are a huge part of our friendship, she models for me, I model for her.. That’s how it works hahaha (see more here). Anyway, on this day, Jo wanted to take some polaroids and also take some pictures of me with sakura flowers she painted on my face. Even though we kinda rushed through this whole thing, I’m actually so in love with how the pictures turned out. She’s seriously so talented.

Eid in the summer and Christmas in the winter, and I am DEFINITELY not complaining. I spent Christmas this year with my family in Germany and it was (as usual), filled with presents, good food, family, champaign, smiles, and good conversation. You can read last year’s post here.
So traditionally, I don’t actually really celebrate Christmas. When I’m here, in Heidelberg, however, I go all out. I can confidently say that this year I was part of the Christmas hype and first hand witnessed the stress of Christmas shopping (or in my case creating), decorating the Christmas tree, baking Christmas cookies, and even singing Christmas carols… even though we sounded awful.
Hey! Before I get started with this post I just want to say that yes, I’ve sucked the past month and have been so bad at posting, I’ve just had some type of creative block and was LITERALLY swamped with assignments had didn’t even have time to sleep. Buuut it’s winter break now so that’s no longer an excuse. I’m also in Germany for Christmas at the moment so I’ll be posting lot’s of pictures from here too 🙂
Now back to the point… I love thrift shopping and you should too! There’s honestly countless benefits from it. Here are 9 reasons why YOU should thrift more. Enjoy!
Part one here
If you see someone you know, go up and say hi! People really appreciate being remembered, you might make their day!
Life gets so much better the minute you stop worrying about what other people think. You don’t need to impress, or try to be anyone. You do you honey boo boo
A small circle of real friends is 100x better than a large circle of fake ones. Something I had to learn the hard way. Quality over quantity ALWAYS
Wear, do, say, think whatever YOU want. If you’re doing it with confidence and it’s coming from the heart, everything looks and sounds so much better.

On the 23rd of November the MUN ‘family’ met at the Fukuoka airport at 9 am, we were literally buzzing with excitement and couldn’t stop talking about how much fun we were going to have, hoping we’d get partnered with good roomies, and talking about how cold it would be in comparison to the 12 degrees we consider freezing here in Fukuoka.
